Over twenty years of experience of planning expeditions
Our aim is to help you make memories that will stay with you forever, igniting a passion for adventure and travel.
We like to ensure that all journeys that we are conducting are done in a safe but enjoyable manner
With over twenty years of experience of planning expeditions, travelling and climbing across the globe we have a good handle on what it takes to run successful, enjoyable and challenging trips.
For us, it is important that our journeys are conducted in a safe manner, that our impact on the environment is minimal, that we contribute to local economies without affecting customs, traditions and cultures, and that you, our customers have genuinely authentic, fun and enjoyable experience.
We achieve this by focusing on three key aspects, safety, sustainability and success.
When you travel with us, your safety is our number one focus.
That’s why we make safety the golden thread that runs through everything we do. Safety is an integral part of our planning process right from the design phase; this includes thorough risk assessments for all trips as well as activity specific risk assessments.
During the planning phase for our trips and activities, mitigation strategies are put in place for all aspects where we deem safety to be above our threshold of acceptability. Once a trip goes live, our well qualified and experienced leaders manage safety for the duration, making dynamic risk assessments and varying the activity/itinerary as required to suit the local environmental conditions and other factors that my impact on the safe conduct of the journey.
We believe that this holistic approach to safety means that our customers relax and enjoy the adventure without needing to worry.
Putting Local Communities First
Visiting remote mountain regions can upset the natural balance that local communities have developed with their spectacular environment over hundreds of years. All Monkey Mountaineering journeys are based on small groups to minimise any impact we may have on the host region whilst protecting and enhancing opportunity for future activity.
Where possible we use local guides and businesses so as to invest in the local economy whilst providing our customers with a level of expert knowledge and cultural contact that cannot be achieved by using guides from the UK. We encourage our customers to respect the environment and to travel in a way that does not adversely impact on essential ecological processes and biological diversity.
In essence, we strive to achieve an outcome where the only evidence that one of our journeys has visited a region should be photographs, great memories and the good will of the local community.
We will do everything we can to ensure the objectives of the trip are met
At Monkey Mountaineering we recognise that success means different things to different people so we work hard to ensure everyone has a successful trip. Things may not always go in our favour and the mountain weather can impact on our plans, preventing us from achieving our objective.
Recognising this and to maximise our chances of success, we complement our focus on safety and sustainability by carefully selecting our leaders and guides. Keeping group sizes to a minimum enhances group dynamics and allows the guide to give more personal attention to our customers resolving issues before they can have an impact.
Small groups mean that all our customers have a name and are not lost in the crowd. We will do everything we can to ensure the objectives of the trip are met but for us, success is defined as bringing home customers who have had a truly enjoyable and remarkable experience.
