People, Planning and Prices.

People, Planning and Prices.

As military veterans, people are important to us and so we put the safety, wellbeing and enjoyment of our customers at the centre of everything we do. ensure that all journeys that we are conducting are done in a safe but enjoyable manner

Our trips are planned with military precision, ensuring all the tiny details are taken care of so that you can totally immerse yourself in the adventure and not have to worry about anything.

The price shown on our website is the price you pay; we don’t advertise a ‘trips from’ low price to entice you to book and then hit you with all the extra’s at the checkout.  We tell you upfront how much your trip will cost along with exactly what is included and excluded from the price.

Once you book with us, your money is protected by a trust fund – our trustees will only give us access to the money you have paid once your trip is complete or under certain special circumstances.  That way, subject to our booking conditions, if things change and you need to cancel, we can quickly access your payments and get you refunded.

On top of this, it is of paramount importance that our journeys are conducted in a safe manner, that our impact on the environment is minimal, that we contribute to local economies without affecting customs, traditions and cultures, and that you, our customers, have genuinely authentic, fun and enjoyable experience.  We achieve this by focusing on three key aspects, safety, sustainability and success.

Safety

Safety

When you travel with us, your safety is our number one focus.

That’s why we make safety the golden thread that runs through everything we do.  Safety is an integral part of our planning process right from the design phase; this includes thorough risk assessments and altitude profiling for all trips.  Mitigating the risks at the planning stage and being mindful of altitude gains improves your chances of success even before you’ve booked!

Once a trip goes live, our well qualified and experienced leaders manage safety for the duration, making dynamic risk assessments and varying the activity/itinerary where necessary to suit the local environmental conditions and other factors that may impact on your safety.

We believe that this holistic approach to safety means that our customers can relax and enjoy the adventure without needing to worry.

Sustainability

Sustainability

Putting Local Communities First

Visiting remote mountain regions can upset the natural balance that local communities have developed with their spectacular environment over hundreds of years.  All Monkey Mountaineering journeys are based on small groups to minimise our impact on the host region whilst protecting and enhancing opportunity for future activity.

Where possible we use fully qualified and experienced local guides and businesses so as to invest in the local economy whilst providing our customers with a level of expert knowledge and cultural contact that cannot be achieved by using guides from the UK.  We encourage our customers to respect the environment and to embrace the ‘leave no trace’ principle; travelling in a way that doesn’t adversely impact on essential ecological processes and biological diversity.

In essence, we strive to achieve an outcome where the only evidence that one of our journeys has visited a region is photographs, great memories and the good will of the local community.

Success

Success

We will do everything we can to ensure the objectives of the trip are met

At Monkey Mountaineering we recognise that success means different things to different people, so we work hard to ensure everyone has a successful trip.  Things may not always go in our favour and the mountain weather can impact on our plans, preventing us from achieving our objective.

Recognising this and to maximise our chances of success, we complement our focus on safety and sustainability by carefully selecting our leaders and guides.  Keeping group sizes small has a positive effect on team dynamics and allows the guide to give more personal attention to our customers, resolving issues before they can have an impact on success.

Small groups mean that all our customers have a name and are not lost in the crowd.  We will do everything we can to ensure the objectives of the trip are met but for us, success is defined as bringing home customers who have had a truly enjoyable and remarkable experience.

These strategies give us an unrivalled success rate on all of our trips – you can find out more about our success rates HERE.

So, there’s loads of great reasons to book with us but don’t just take our word for it, take a look at what some of our past customers have to say about us.
