BS EN 12572:2017 recommends that artificial climbing structures are independently inspected at least once every 12 months. An annual inspection provides a thorough assessment of the condition of the climbing wall and helps identify deterioration, wear or defects that may not be apparent during routine operational checks.
However, an annual inspection should form part of a wider inspection and maintenance programme. Operators should also carry out regular visual inspections, routine operational checks and ensure that any defects or maintenance issues are addressed promptly.
