It is vital that any PPE used at your climbing wall is safe and serviceable. In the UK it’s a legal requirement under LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) and PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998) to ensure all equipment used as PPE, or for maintaining a load or lifting, has regular inspections. For PPE and load bearing equipment this inspection should be carried out by a competent person every six months and written records retained.
